GMC Sierra Sales Soar in Q2 2024, Reaching 80K Deliveries
GMC Sierra sales climbed sharply in the United States and Canada during the second quarter of 2024, even as deliveries in Mexico declined. Here’s a closer look at what drove the shift across all three markets.
GMC Sierra Sales in United States
In the United States, GMC Sierra sales reached 80,188 units in Q2 2024, a 6 percent increase over the 75,810 units sold in Q2 2023. The gain reflects growing demand for the Sierra lineup. Year-to-date sales through the first half of 2024 rose 4 percent to 148,785 units, underscoring the truck’s steady appeal in the US market.
Broken down by segment, Light Duty (1500) sales rose 18.1 percent to 55,050 units. Heavy Duty models (2500 HD and 3500 HD) fell 14 percent, with 25,138 units sold.
GMC Sierra Sales in Canada
GMC Sierra sales in Canada also rose in Q2 2024, with deliveries totaling 16,233 units, a 5 percent increase from the 15,398 units sold in Q2 2023. Canadian demand continues to grow alongside the vehicle’s broader success in the region.
Sales for the first half of the year in Canada increased 1 percent to 30,807 units, pointing to steady, if modest, growth in the market.

While GMC Sierra sales grew in the United States and Canada, the Mexican market moved in the opposite direction. In Q2 2024, GMC Sierra sales in Mexico totaled 833 units, a 30 percent decrease from the 1,186 units sold in Q2 2023.
Despite the quarterly drop, first-half sales in Mexico grew 1 percent to 1,828 units, suggesting demand for the GMC Sierra remains steady there even as quarterly figures fluctuate.

Among full-size pickup trucks in the United States, the GMC Sierra held its position as the fourth best-selling model during the second quarter of 2024.
The Ford F-Series led the segment with 191,561 units sold, despite an 8 percent year-over-year decline. The Chevrolet Silverado, which shares its platform with the GMC Sierra, ranked second with a 5 percent increase to 148,916 units.

Combined GMC Sierra sales with the Chevrolet Silverado, Silverado EV, and Hummer EV Pickup gave General Motors (GM) 234,229 combined deliveries in Q2 2024, a 41 percent segment share. That total puts GM ahead of Ford by close to 35,000 units, cementing its position as the top seller of full-size pickup trucks in the United States.
